PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT. Cleopatra VII Thea Neotera. 51-30 BC. Æ (21mm, 10.10 g, 12h). Tripolis mint. Dated Phoenician RY 2 (36/5 BC). Diademed and draped bust right / Nike, holding wreath and palm, standing on prow right; LB (date) to right. Svoronos -; RPC 4510; Rouvier 1640. Fine, earthen black patina.

Mark Antony illegitimately “bestowed” a number of territories in the east to Cleopatra, which were added to her royal dominions, including portions of Phoenicia in 37/6 BC. As such, her regnal years in Phoenicia were reckoned from this date, and are reflected on her coins that were struck there.

Estimate: $200
